Smackdown Canceled?
Maybe this will be the wake up call they need and we can start seeing a quality product again. They still have a year left on their contract. I can already think of a ton of great angles they could run in order to combine the "brands" and bring ECW into the fold.
Unfortunately, what will most likely happen is that Vince will assume it's getting canceled due to the fact that Steph hasn't been on TV enough lately.
The truth, of course, is the writing just sucks. Look at the Royal Rumble, for example. We have a three-way match with Bradshaw, Angle, and Big Show. What are they fighting over? Surely not the WWE title. No, that's just an added bonus. What they're actually fighting over in storyline is these women that we a) Have no idea who they are, and b) could care less about.
Let the damn wrestlers wrestle and maybe your audience would at least start walking away instead of running.
I also find it amusing that TNA continues to gain timeslots and increase PPV buyrates, just a WWE continues to lose viewers and timeslots.

It looks like the paper that reported this story changed their mind. The paragraph that said Smackdown would not be renewed nows says this:
"There's only one year left on the contract for World Wrestling Entertainment's 'Smackdown!' but the network has not yet decided what its future will be."Either way, I think this sends a huge message to WWE and I hope that Vince and co. and I hope they listen.
