Variety.com: Smackdown takes it on the chin

I saw this linked to on Drudge of all places. I don't know what the big deal is.

Here's what happened. Smackdown wrestler Muhammad Hassan is in a feud with The Undertaker. Hassan's manager, Daivari, had a match with Undertaker on Thursday. After the match, a bunch of indy workers and Val Venis came out in masks and beat up up Taker. Then they carried him off as a "sacrafice" to Allah, I guess.

Sure it sucks that this aired in most places the same day as the London attacks, but it was taped on Tuesday and didn't really symbolize or pay homage to the attacks. Stupid, yes. Offensive, I didn't think so, but everybody in the Internet Wrestling Community was ready to swear off Smackdown for good after this. You'll note, the IWC was angry about this after reading the taping results before either the London attacks happened or before they even they saw Smackdown on TV.

And here's a note to the media: If you're looking for something to be offended by, why not be offended by the fact that 50+ British civilians were slaughted by Islamist terrorists on Thursday.
